As dedicated Metalheads we have to accept the fact that we’re not “normal”. In terms of social/political beliefs and cultural tastes most of us stand apart from Joe and Jane Average. These “normies” also seem to have a natural, built in prejudice against Heavy Metal (particularily the more extreme genres). The sounds and art from our beloved music can really ruffle feathers and often illicit interesting, and sometimes humorous, reactions. Musically we wake the neighbors with some of the usual suspects that consistently commit crimes against “normie” normalcy in DIMMU BORGIR, NECROPHAGIA, and METALLICA. Horns Up!!

Known mostly for his work with the legendary MASTER (as well as ABOMINATION and DEATH STRIKE, two acts deserving of their own accolades), Speckman was a major player in the early 90s DM boom and to this day MASTER is still in the underground forefront. This episode of RADIOACTIVE METAL Originally aired on PURE ROCK RADIO April 15th, 2010. Being as mature as Metal itself, but still retaining our youth through the love of the genre, time seems to be flying by. Only we just don’t seem to notice. We can’t count the amount of times we’ve said “Holy Shit! Did that really happen 30 years ago already?” or “That record came out in ‘81? Wow!” So now that Metal is a nice round age of 40 it’s time to examine these moments suspended somewhere in time. Remember it’s been six years already since we lost DIMEBAG. Musically we say goodbye to DESPISED ICON and remember an absolutely classic bass solo nobody will forget. Horns Up!
